Christmas at Uplands

Christmas at Uplands (Jul på Uplands) is an alternative way of celebrating Christmas which has taken place at the nation since 1969. The celebrations started as an alternative for students who could not travel home over the holidays. The celebrations have changed since then and is now open for everyone. The event is free of charge, open for everyone and completely free of drugs and alcohol. It is financed through donations. The food mostly comes from restaurant in and around Uppsala.

The nation is open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, 12:00–22:00 both days.
During these days we usually get 1 500–2 000 visitors, as well as 150–200 volunteers.

The work is lead by the nations Christmas hosts and includes everything from contacting companies and activities that might want to contribute to making schedules for the volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a Christmas host you can send an email to [email protected].

If you would like to volunteer the preparations usually start during the autumn. There is also a group on Facebook called Jul på Uplands volunteers that is used as a discussion forum and is free for everyone to join.

Registration for this year’s Christmas at Uplands opens in October!
